Web is everywhere. Mobile is everyday.
The Community Web Portal is reachable from any browser — that’s its strength. The Mobile App lives on every member’s home screen — that’s a different kind of strength. The two work together: the web portal is your door (anyone can walk through it without installing anything), the mobile app is your presence (your church lives next to Photos and Messages on every committed member’s phone).
Churches with both consistently see 60-70% of weekly engagement happen in the mobile app and 30-40% in the web portal. The members who download the app engage more often, give more frequently, and stay connected through the week in ways pure-web users don’t.
What native delivery does that a browser tab can’t
The Mobile App has every feature the Community Web Portal has, plus a set of capabilities that only exist when your church lives natively on a member’s device.
Always on, top of mind
A web URL is somewhere your members visit. An app icon on their home screen is somewhere their church lives. Native presence makes the difference between members who think about your church once a week and members who think about it every day.
Home-screen presence
Your church icon sits next to Photos, Maps, and Messages on every member's phone. Daily glances build daily habit — opening rates run 4-7× higher than email or web reminders for the same content.
Push notifications
Service starting in 10 minutes. A new prayer request needs intercession. Wednesday Bible Study check-in is open. Members get gentle prompts at the right moment, with your church's name on the notification, not a generic email subject line.
Notification action buttons
Notifications can carry actions inline — RSVP to an event, mark a prayer request as praying-for, open today's devotional — without the member opening the app. Friction-free engagement that takes one tap.
Lock-screen + background presence
Sermon playback continues on the lock screen with native media controls. Members listen while driving, exercising, or doing chores. Pause, skip, seek — all from the lock screen, all in your church's branded player.
Built for mobile life
Members aren't only at their desks. They commute, travel, exercise, work, and parent. Native delivery handles the constraints of mobile life — weak coverage, no signal, in-pocket usage, one-handed scrolling — in ways a browser tab simply cannot.
Offline sermon downloads
Members tap to download a sermon (or auto-download the latest service). Plays anywhere — airplane mode, rural drives, weak hotel wifi, missions trips. The portal goes wherever they go.
Background audio playback
Sermons keep playing when the phone screen turns off. Members listen during their commute, on a run, while making dinner. Native audio handling that web browsers can't match reliably.
Native sharing
Tap to share a sermon, verse, or event to any other app — Messages, WhatsApp, family group threads. Members evangelize without leaving their normal phone flow. Every share carries your church's brand.
Voice notes for sermon journaling
Quick-tap voice recording for sermon notes, prayer journaling, or personal reflection. Native mic integration is smoother and more reliable than browser-based recording.
Camera integration
Profile photos, group photos, event photo sharing, document upload for ministry signups — all use the phone's native camera with no awkward browser permission prompts.
Frictionless engagement
Native platforms unlock interactions a browser tab can't access directly. Members sign in with their face, follow links straight to the right screen, and interact through the smooth native gestures their phone already trains them to expect.
Biometric login
Members sign in to the church app using their phone's Face ID or Touch ID instead of typing a password every time. Faster, more secure, and the standard members expect from any serious app on their phone.
Native deep linking
Links from email, text, or social media open directly to the right place inside the app — a specific sermon, group, event, or prayer request — without bouncing through a browser first. Smoother flow, fewer drop-offs, higher action-rates on every link you send.
One-tap directions to events
Event cards hand off straight to your phone's native maps app for directions to the church or venue. Members tap once and get turn-by-turn navigation; you stop losing first-time attendees to "I couldn't find the place."
Native gestures and haptics
Swipe to mark a prayer request, pull to refresh, tap-and-hold for quick actions, subtle haptic feedback on important taps. Every interaction feels like the rest of the apps on the member's phone, not like a website pretending to be one.
Branded as your church, inside and out
Once a member opens the app and selects your church, every screen is wrapped in your brand — your logo, your colors, your church name, your content. On Enterprise tier, the wrapping extends all the way to the App Store itself.
Single app, every church inside
Members download "Church Service Hub" from the App Store or Play Store and pick your church on first launch. No per-church install friction. No App Store re-submission for every church. The platform handles distribution; you stay in ministry.
Full church branding inside the app
From the moment your church is selected, the app's logo, theme color, navigation, and content all become yours. Members see your church everywhere they look — sermon player, giving prompt, group cards, push notification origin, the entire shell.
Per-church App Store listing (Enterprise)
On Enterprise tier, your church gets its own dedicated app — searchable in the App Store and Play Store under your church's name, with your logo as the home-screen icon and your splash screen on launch.
Full white-label under your developer account (Enterprise)
Enterprise distribution can ship under your church's own Apple Developer and Google Play Developer accounts, with zero CSH branding visible anywhere — the icon, the App Store listing, the splash, the notification sender, even the installed app name all belong to your church.
Every module from your Community Web Portal — here too
The Mobile App isn’t a stripped-down version of the web portal. Every module is present, every feature works, every workflow is supported. Members switching between phone and laptop never miss anything.
For the full module-by-module deep dive, see the Community Web Portal page — the Mobile App carries every feature listed there into a native iOS and Android delivery.
We handle the App Store. You stay in ministry.
Building, submitting, and maintaining a mobile app is a real engineering operation. CSH absorbs all of it — your church just signs up and the app ships.
One app, every church inside (Growth & Pro)
Members install the Church Service Hub app from the App Store or Play Store and pick your church on first launch. From that moment on, everything inside is branded with your church — your logo, colors, content, and name on every screen.
Per-church App Store presence (Enterprise)
Enterprise tier unlocks a dedicated app entry under your church's own developer account — searchable in the stores with your logo as the icon, your splash on launch, and your church name in the App Store and Play Store listings.
Built native, not a web wrapper
True iOS and Android apps built with Flutter for real native performance, native share sheets, real push notifications, and the smooth feel members expect from any serious app on their phone — not a webview pretending to be native.
Updates ship automatically
When CSH releases new features, your church's app updates with them — no developer overhead, no separate maintenance, no submitting to the App Store yourself. The platform handles distribution end-to-end so you stay focused on ministry.
Designed to bring members into the church, not away from it
Push notifications nudge members toward Sunday morning, Wednesday Bible study, and the small group meeting they signed up for. Event RSVPs, group discovery, and volunteer signups all happen in the app — but the actual gathering happens in your building. The app is the gentle hand on the shoulder, not the substitute for showing up.
Service-starting nudges
10 minutes before service, a notification: "Live in 10 minutes — see you in the sanctuary?" Members on the fence get the gentle reminder that often makes the difference.
Pre-registered family check-in
Parents register kids from the app during the week. Sunday morning, the kiosk just confirms — no paperwork, no line. Faster check-in means families come more often.
Event reminders with directions
Notification 90 minutes before a member's RSVP'd event, with one-tap native directions. Higher show-up rates than email or paper reminders.
Group meeting nudges
"Tuesday small group at 7 PM — at Sarah's house. Need a ride?" Push notification with the address and group chat link. Attendance creeps up week over week.
Volunteer shift reminders
A day before serving, a notification with the shift details and check-in instructions. Volunteers show up prepared and on time. Coordinators get accurate headcounts.
First-time guest welcome
Guest signs up as a Guest. Welcome push notification with this week's service times and a quick "What to expect when you visit." Friction-free path from app discovery to physical attendance.
The Mobile App’s purpose is to make showing up easier and more habitual — not to be the replacement for showing up.
Four moments where native makes the difference
Scenarios that are only possible when your church lives natively on the phone, not just at a URL.
Morning commute
Phone in the cup-holder, member taps the church app. Lock-screen shows yesterday's sermon ready to resume — they hit play, sermon picks up where they left off, plays through their drive. By the time they're at work they've finished the message, the app suggests a related devotional for lunch. Engagement before 9 AM that didn't exist five years ago.
Mid-day prayer prompt
Push notification: "New prayer request from your Tuesday small group — would you spend a minute praying?" Member taps the notification, the app opens directly to the request, they tap "I'm praying for this" (which notifies the requester their group is interceding), spend 90 seconds in prayer, lock the phone. Total elapsed time: under two minutes. Spiritual impact: lasting.
Evening event reminder
5 PM Wednesday. Notification: "Bible Study at 7 PM tonight — directions to the church?" Tap → app shows event card with one-tap directions in the native Maps app. RSVP confirmed. Reminder fires again at 6:30. Member arrives. Hits the kiosk for kids check-in (already pre-registered from earlier in the week). In their seat by 7:02.
Sunday morning giving prompt
In the pew, the pastor mentions giving. Member opens the church app, taps "Give" — the app hands off to your church's mobile-optimized giving page where their saved payment method is already on file. Two taps to confirm, gift is processed, they're returned to the app to keep worshiping. No wallet, no offering plate awkwardness, no cash — just generosity in the moment.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the mobile app required for members?
- No. The Community Web Portal works in any browser and covers the same content. The mobile app is for members who want their church at-hand on their phone with push notifications, offline access, and native UX. Many churches see 40-60% of engagement happen in the mobile app once it ships, with the rest happening in the web portal.
- What about App Store and Google Play approval?
- CSH handles the entire submission and approval process for you. On Growth tier, your app lives under CSH's umbrella App Store account with your church's branding. On Pro and Enterprise, we can ship under your church's own developer account if you prefer full ownership. Approval timelines are typically 2-7 days; we handle every back-and-forth with Apple and Google.
- Can we customize the app icon, splash screen, and color theme?
- Yes — every visual is branded with your church's identity. Custom app icon, splash screen, primary color, accent color, and dark-mode color all configurable from the admin portal. On Pro and Enterprise tiers, the customization runs deeper including custom fonts and component theming.
- Does it work offline?
- Most content yes. Downloaded sermons play offline. Bible reading is fully offline. Cached devotionals, previously-loaded announcements, and personal notes all available without a connection. Live streaming and real-time chat require a connection (live by definition); everything else has graceful offline support.
- How is the mobile app different from the Community Web Portal?
- Same content, different surface. The Community Web Portal is the browser-based version — anyone with the URL can access it without installing anything (great for first-time guests and desktop users). The mobile app is the native iOS/Android version — installed on members' phones with push notifications, offline access, biometric login, and home-screen presence. Most churches use both: the web portal as the always-accessible URL, the mobile app as the daily-engagement surface for committed members.
- What about push notifications — are members spammed?
- Members fully control which notifications they receive: service starting, prayer requests, group messages, event reminders, daily devotionals, sermon highlights — each toggleable in their app settings. Defaults are conservative (service-starting + new prayer requests in groups they joined). Churches can't spam their congregation; the member is always in control.
- Which tier includes the mobile app?
- Growth, Pro, and Enterprise tiers include the mobile app. Starter tier includes the Community Web Portal but not the native mobile app — perfect for small churches getting started. When a Starter church grows enough to justify the mobile app, they upgrade to Growth and the app ships within a week.
